Biographical entry Cooke, David Rolla

doctor

Occupation
Flying Doctor

Summary

Dr Cooke collaborated with Dr Kirk by collecting blood samples and providing him with information on family relationships, from two Aboriginal missions, Mornington Island and Doomadgee. In order to obtain permission to do this, Dr Cooke first approached the two missions and received local agreement. However, the Superintendent of Doomadgee said that he would not be happy about it until Cooke had the approval of the Director of Aboriginal and Island Affairs. This approval was subsequently granted.
