Organistaion Canberra Medical Society

Summary

The Indigenous Health Committee of The Canberra Medical Society has been active since 2002, raising funds and donating their time and expertise to assist with "closing the gap" on indigenous health issues. Their activities have included mammogram screening in the Tiwi islands, cataract surgery for the Yuendumu community, ear surgery for children of the Warlpiri people, and dialysis support.

In 2015, the CMS has committed to support the work of the National Centre for Indigenous Genomics at ANU by hosting a community event, Sunday Dreaming at Government House, with the hope that this research will ensure that the Indigenous people of Australia are equally able to enjoy the health benefits promised by Genome Science.
