Summary
Halls Creek with a population of 1443 (in 2011), is situated in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia on the Great Northern Highway. It functions as a support centre for the local Indigenous population and for cattle stations in the area; and as an administration centre for the Halls Creek shire council. The traditional owners of the area are the Jaru, Kija, Kukatja, Walmajarri, and Gooniyandi people. Over 70% of the town's population is Indigenous. The languages spoken are English, Jaru, Kriol, Kija, Gooniyandi and Walmajarri.
